    Alpha Space is a commercial space company on the forefront of the new-space frontier.  Alpha Space owns and operates a commercial, external testing facility on the International Space Station (ISS) called MISSE.  We are payload integration experts and our customers include commercial and traditional space companies, the U.S. government, and educational programs.

    Overview

    Quality lead for Alpha Space Test & Research Alliance, LLC. Alpha Space owns and operates MISSE, a commercial testing facility on the ISS. 

     

    The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on quality engineer interested in commercial spaceflight, with a broad background that includes spaceflight hardware manufacturing and development, configuration management/control, vendor quality, working collaboratively as part of the engineering development team, and leading continuous improvement efforts.

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for all Quality aspects of Alpha Space’s spaceflight hardware development, refurbishment, processing, testing, and upgrades, including design, manufacturing, payload flight processing, configuration management/control, and vendor quality.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited university
    • At least two years recent space industry experience that includes developing and manufacturing human spaceflight equipment
    • At least five years of quality engineering experience
    • Deep knowledge of current industry quality standards and NASA standards for human spaceflight
    • Understanding of the International Space Station program quality system and requirements
    • Proven ability to collaborate with internal development teams to deliver high quality, fully compliant products on-time and on-budget
    • Experienced auditor – internal and external audits
    • Working understanding of configuration control and configuration management
    • Ability to communicate clearly – written and verbal
    • Positive attitude, comfortable with a dynamic environment

     

    Preferred:

    • Engineering degree
    • Experience as a quality system manager
    • Experience writing proposals and white papers and/or studies
    • Expert writing and verbal skills
    • Experience with commercial industry, especially oil and gas or commercial space
