    Overview

    The Associate Aerospace Engineer will provide critical, highly specialized support to rapidly respond to chronic, emergent, episodic, and surge needs of the Long Range Stand-Off program. The work is intended to support the Air Force planning process for capability-based acquisition, spanning the full breadth of acquisition management support per DoD Directive 5000.1 and DoD Instruction 5000.02

    Responsibilities

    • Provide engineering support as required in assigned discipline, in support of Long Range Stand-Off pre- and post-acquisition activities.
    • Acquisition activities support preparation for Milestone B decision, Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR), and transition to Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD)
    • Participate in program strategy sessions, risk identification and mitigation boards
    • Craft documents necessary to support Milestone B decisions
    • Support refinement/review of acquisition documentation relative to current policies, directives and instructions for milestones with the JCIDS and acquisition framework
    • Support Design Reviews as required
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS degree in engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university
    • 20 years or more of experience in design and development of complex systems, preferably military systems
    • Knowledge of and experience with DoD Directive 5000.1 and DoD Instruction 5000.02
    • Knowledge of processes and procedures for working with Air Force MAJCOMs and Air Staff
    • Knowledge of and experience with Air Force air vehicle or weapon system programs (ACAT I preferred)
    • Experience with Long Range Stand-Off or Air Launched Cruise Missile Program (highly desirable)
    • Top Secret clearance with SAP eligibility
